Vidar Figenschow

Guitar

Vidar grew up in Tromsø, having Vannøya, Troms as his part time hometown. Vidar works as an electricial for JM Hansen and is a social and active guy.

Vidar attended the Kulturskolen (Tromsø Cultural School) at age 6, where he played the accordiation for 15 years and piano for 2 years as a student of Kurt Samuelsen.

Vidar has focused more of his energy on guitars over the past few years, and has acquired several flamenco guitars as the interest has grown. Following a few solo performances and several hours on YouTube to acquiring new flamenco-skills Vidar wished to test his skills as part of a band, and teamed up with his friend Johannes on violin and colleague Even on bass. A few weeks later the band Habaneroz was formed , having their first performance at the Garasjefestivalen in Tromsø in 2017.

Vidar has entertained at different event like weddings, birthday parties and funerals over the years. He won a gold medal with the song Novelty Accordion by Erik Frank at the district championship of accordion in 2010 in Harstad. In addition he has performed in front of the Norwegian Crown Prince Coupleduring their visit to Vannøya, where he played the accordation with his father.

Vidar is well used to stage life, having performed and participated in over 90 shows at age 12 to 14. He played the accordion and played the role of Oluf Junior in the Påtryneteatret show "Sørbøe og Figenschow: Tolker Arntzen".

Vidar enjoys all genres of music, but has a passion for Dire Straights and TOTO, in addition to movie soundtracks and – surprise surprise – spanish flamenco music.
